About Holidays in the Cotswolds

 

The Cotswolds lie in south west England, from the City of Bath in the west through the county of Gloucestershire to Oxfordshire in the east. In the north the Cotswolds stretch through to parts of Warwiickshire, (known for Stratford upon Avon -Shakespeare country and to Worcestershire where apples, cider and Worcestershire sauce come from.

Apart from the pretty rolling Cotswold hills and countryside, the charming honey-hued stone-built villages and ancient churches, the impressive architecture of Georgian town suchs as Cheltenham there are numerous places of interest to visit. The Cotswolds teem with stately homes, museums and historic buildings. Antique shops and fairs are common. This is where Prince Charles has his home and many wealthy Brits choose to live behind walled estates.

The River Thames springs out of the Cotswolds and gently winds its way to London. keen walkers my trace the river back to its souce.

 

Places to visit in the Cotswolds?

The Cotswolds are an excellent base for a taste of 'little England' at its best and most genteel. You may choose to spend the full duration of your holiday exploring the countryside, towns and vallage sof the Cotswolds but it is also very tempting to visit the City of Bath, Stratford upon Avon, Oxford and even London for a day trip. All are within easy travelling distance for a day out from the Cotswolds.
